TBS students met with Guide Dogs as part of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
As part of the World Disability Day events at TBS, Guide Dogs and students came together.
During the meeting held within this scope, RKD President Atty. Nurdeniz Tunçer and Guide Dog trainer Burcu Bora informed TBS students and their families about the contributions they can provide during the training period of guide dogs and about new projects. Görey Beydağı shared the positive changes he experienced after becoming a guide dog owner.
During this special event, students, teachers, and parents contributed to the Association with a charity sale organized at the school.
In previous years, the first project of this collaboration had been Guide Dog TABS. TABS, who was found by TBS parents as a guide dog candidate, was hosted by the parents throughout the training period. Guide Dog TABS is currently guiding lawyer Mustafa Keskin.
In collaboration with the Guide Dogs Association, TBS regularly organizes awareness activities at its Yeniköy and Tarabya campuses. Projects are being developed regarding guide dogs who assist visually impaired individuals.
The Guide Dogs Association (RKD), which trains guide dogs to offer visually impaired individuals a free and independent life, organizes events in cooperation with institutions to ensure the sustainability of social awareness.
Guide dogs, which have been empowering visually impaired people with independence for more than a century in over 65 countries around the world, are defined not merely as pets but as reliable companions. Guide dog candidates are selected from suitable breeds and, with the love of volunteer families and the support of trainers, become ready for duty after a special two-year training period. Symbolizing freedom and safety in the life of a visually impaired person, guide dogs are provided entirely free of charge by the association throughout all training and service processes.
